It’s not a review just my heartfelt thoughts that I perceived while going through the comic “Lost at sea” by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

It’s nothing like breath-taking story that I used to like but in every page in the messed up thoughts of the character Raleigh I could find my teenage self who was trying to embrace the cruelty of this mysterious world with a battered soul.

This short comic is literally based on the innermost thoughts of a confused teenage girl named Raleigh who considers herself soulless. Here Raleigh while travelling up the coast tries to put the pieces of her life together. It took may be an hour or two to finish the book but the impression that it left in my mind is everlasting.

I read some quotes over and over again wondering how the writer could relate so much with the chaotic mind of a teenage girl!!!

The author just tried to tell all the loner souls to accept themselves, to grasp their old selves by opening up to their surrounding people. Again I’m mentioning it’s not a unique or shocking story with a contented ending but full of some views of your young self, you may relate to.

Here I’m going to share a part of a page from the book…..

“I guess I never have any answer. Just the same pointless question, over and over, everyday, why am I so fucked up why am I so fucked up why am I so fucked up?

May be that’s just mental, may be I should stop. May be I already have. May be it’s important to open up to people-people who are right there with you, not some thousand miles away in another universe…….”

Who haven’t ever gone through these types of thoughts???

All of us feel worthless in different ways but we all do…may be!

I am happy for Raleigh that she could shut the thoughts of her mind by accepting herself in the way she is and by holding up to the ones who were there with her.

No matter how many part of the story I mention, you won’t be able to feel enough of it. You have to go through the book for soothing your heart with amazing art that will give you manga vibe.
